Better Late Than Never! Pumpkin fun!

Before Halloween we had some parents come in to help with carving pumpkins. We had 4 pumpkins with 6 children and a parent at each pumpkin. They had to measure how tall the pumpkin was with cubes, measure around the pumpkin with a measuring tape and then decide on what kind of face to make.

Some of us liked digging right in and scooping out the innards!

Some of us would rather watch!

But we all had fun!

Now a couple weeks later this is what we have...

Two of the pumpkins stayed fairly nice but a little moldy on the inside. The other two collapsed and are completely mushy. The kids have loved watching them rot but I think it is time to say goodbye to them tomorrow after one more activity.

We are having fun at our developmental stations!

The last 25 minutes of the day the children go to developmental  stations. They really enjoy building with the variety of building toys we have. The conversations are wonderful to listen to during this time. The children plan together when they are building a group structure.

They all enjoy the housekeeping station. They enjoy making dinner, coming home from work and playing with the babies. The telephones are always a big hit too.

One of our stations is cutting and gluing. There is paper of all sizes and colors. The children can cut shapes and make pictures from their cut up paper. Great for those fine motor skills as well as fostering creativity.

While all of this is going on the children can go to an easle and paint a picture. They are doing well with the whole process.

Mrs. Busse Gets Ready for Kindergarten!

Here are a few pictures of what I have done in the classroom this week.
The reading group area is set up.

We will sit here and learn to read! All of the books we need are in the cupboards behind the table.

This is my desk and our whole group area. I have some great stories picked out for the begining of the school year. There is a carpet in front of the rocking chair for each of you to sit on!

This is our Smart Board. It is a big computer. We will do the calander, reading stories, learn math skills and even watch some learning videos on it.

We will have 4 computers for you to work on during work stations.

Here is a picture of our tables and chairs. Some of the chairs are blue and some are green.

This is our painting and craft area. I hope you like to paint because we paint every day!

Stop back tomorrow for more pictues as I finish getting the room ready for YOUR first day of Kindergarten :)

Just got back from another day hard a work unpacking boxes and organizing materials!
Empty boxes are now more than full boxes!

The math cabinet is becoming organized as is the cabinets I will use for my guided reading books.

And look at our new rocking chair and rug! The rocking chair is really comfy. I will be spending a lot of time there!

Welcome to the new building!
Remember all of those boxes tha were packed in the old buildig? Well here they are in my new room

The cabinets are glorious! I can't wait to fill them.

Starting to fill them!

 and changing my mind already!

I like the paint above the counter top. Then where do I put everything else?
Books will go all together IN ORDER! I can't wait to be organized! And look the boxes are dwindling :)
Oh my what do I do with all of the craft stuff? That will be my job tomorrow!
Check back for more pictures as I near the end of the boxes!

Everything is packed and ready to go to the new school. It was bittersweet leaving the last day. I have so many memories in this room and of the building and will miss it in many ways. But the new building is ready for us to start making new memories!

Time to start new. Come back tomorrow to see pictures of where all of these boxes ended up!
